I have been passionate about documenting life through photography, since picking up my first Nikon FM as a kid in my home city of Montreal. I am a Nikon Mentor with AmericanPop Photo Mentor Series and love to teach and have done so as guest lecturer and workshop leader at various universities, photography and arts events in Canada, the United States, Europe and South America. I am currently on the faculty of ICP and SVA in New York. I think it's important to share your work and have learned much doing so-- here on flickr, through my website (www.stevesimonphoto.com) as well as gallery shows around the world. Much of my success has been from working on personal projects which I encourage everyone to pursue. Four of these have been published as books Heroines Heroes Hope, HIV and Africa (), The Republicans (), Healing Waters (), and Empty Sky The Pilgrimage to Ground Zero (). My next big project The Grandmother Spirit is represented by blueearth.org and I can't wait to get back to Africa to continue work on it. I've also learned a lot about looking good in pictures through Carson Kressley. Check out our webisodes at www.lookgoodinpictures.com read more ...
