I'm a visual journalist at The Wall Street Journal. In 2010 I was part of the 'What They Know' team-- we produced a database driven series on the digital tracking industry that won the Loeb award for Interactive journalism. My work was also part of the Journal's investigative series on Medicare fraud. Additionally, I partner with Tommy McCall in an infographics studio. Prior to the WSJ I was the Infographics Director for Fortune Magazine. I was responsible for conceiving, managing and directing all Fortune interactive graphics in collaboration with CNNMoney and all print graphics for the magazine. I was also part of a team that redesigned Fortune.com. Before Fortune I spent 15 years at The New York Times, ten as a graphics editor working on every news desk and as enterprise editor for special investigative projects. I also managed and turned around the Financial News graphics desk and lead a team that redesigned and automated the markets pages. I've taught infographics classes at NYU's Interactive Technology Program, The School of Visual Arts, Parsons and Columbia's graduate program for Strategic Communications.
