For the last sixteen years I have worked in IT filling positions as a software developer, tester, network engineer, and even as a PC technician. Since I have worked primarily on web applications. From late to my primary focus was been Ruby on Rails and the Linux server stack. In the fall of I went back to school to finish up a degree in computer science at Columbia University. During my time there I pursued interests in machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing and search. While in school I also continued my professional growth by getting involved in the New York Ruby community and speaking at professional conferences. I completed my degree at the end of and have been working feverishly ever since. I've written a book, recorded instructional videos, organized over meetups, founded a startup, and went through Y Combinator in the winter of , and helped start and contribute significantly to the open source project InfluxDB. I'm the organizer for the NYC Machine Learning meetup (httpwww.meetup.comNYC-Machine-Learning). I'm also the author of the book Service Oriented Design with Ruby and Rails (httpwww.amazon.comService-Oriented-Design-Ruby-Rails-Pauldp) published by Addison-Wesley.
