I'm a writer and storyteller who helps other writers tell their story and find their audience. I began my career as a newspaper reporter, and worked the last five of those years at the Baltimore Sun. That was followed by ten years as a self-employed author, teacher, and freelance magazine writer. I've published four critically acclaimed works of narrative non-fiction, most recently A CURIOUS MAN, a biography of Robert 'Believe it or Not' Ripley. (Crown, ). I taught college-level writing classes at the University of North Carolina's Great Smokies Writing Program and conducted video interviews with other authors at my website, NealThompson.com. In August of , I became a senior editor on the Books Team at Amazon.com, where I currently manage the Best Books of the Month program.
