Mila Aung-Thwin is a Montreal based director and producer. After completing his studies at McGill University, he began working as producer and cinematographer on Daniel Cross’ feature doc S.P.I.T: Squeegee Punks in Traffic. Together, they co-founded EyeSteelFilm, a production company that embraces the quixotic business of documentary cinema. Over the years, he’s worked on many productions, including the Gemini-nominated Too Colourful for the League and Chairman George (AFI/Silverdocs Jury Prize Winner). EyeSteelFilm has also been at the forefront of socially aware new media innovation with sites such as HomelessNation.org (Canadian New Media Award winner) and OpenSourceCinema.org. Most recently, he produced the feature documentaries Rip: A Remix Manifesto (IDFA Audience Choice Award Winner) and Up the Yangtze which has won many awards and played theatrically around the world.
