Michael J. Demler

Male, 64 years old

Senior analyst at The Linley Group and a Senior Editor at Microprocessor Report. My diverse career spans nearly the breadth of the semiconductor industry, in both technical and business roles, from early-stage RD, to IC design, manufacturing, and software tools. Since , I have worked as a semiconductor analyst focusing on mobile and wireless technology. My published reports include "The Emerging G Wireless Landscape in the U.S.", and "The Android Invasion". I also served as a technical editor for EDN Magazine and editorial director for OpenSystemsMedia. I began my career as a product engineer at Texas Instruments, where I solved test problems and identified the source of yield issues on what was then the largest silicon die that TI was attempting to manufacture. I then went on to design chips for TI calculators and worked on some of the industrys first CMOS telecom ICs. After TI, at the GE Corporate RD Labs, I drove development of advanced process technology, CAD, and design libraries to address the needs of high-frequency signal processing applications. I then led the transfer of that technology to GEs Datel subsidiary, launching a line of high-speed analog-digital converters. At Micro Networks, I directed the creation of a fabless semiconductor business that launched MNC into new markets for video and radar signal processing. After a series of successes creating new lines of business, I transitioned to the EDA industry, first with Meta Software and then joined EDA startup Antrim Design Systems. I later served as a Strategic Marketing Director at Cadence and a Senior Product Marketing Manager for Synopsys. Along with an MBA from San Jose State University, I earned an MSEE from Southern Methodist University, and a BSEE from State University in Buffalo, New York. I am an inventor on eight U.S. patents and have authored the book High-Speed Analog to Digital Conversion, published by Academic Press. read more ...
