Alonso worked with the San Diego City Council for nearly a decade before becoming a Government and Community Relations Professional with the Canales Group. Alonso found success with high profile campaigns and projects at the local and state level since . While at the City of San Diego Alonso managed the Land UseHousing and RulesIntergovernmental subcommittees and served southern San Diegos Eighth District as a Council Representative. He was promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff to the Council President in and doubled as the analyst on coastal matters for Coastal Commissioner Ben Hueso. Alonso was responsible for Coastal Act research and ex-parte communications and was appointed as an alternate member of the California Coastal Commission. He has worked on campaigns for outstanding officials including Gail Marshall, Lois Capps, Alex Padilla, Gavin Newsom and Juan Vargas.
