I was born on December 15, 1965. My Father, Al Miller was a prominent drum teacher on long Island who taught hundreds of people throughout his career. My musical background started with going on jobs with my dad from the time I was five. I would always sit right behind his floor tom. He took me to almost every gig he did. I began sitting in as much as possible and actually played my first paying club date at nine years old. He entered me in the drum corps where I learned a lot about playing with other drummers and also entered me in various drum competitions. I came in first place in the state for the Louie Bellson National Drum Contest when I was 11 but failed miserably when my sight reading was not good enough to get me to the next level. I worked real hard to get my reading up to par after that. I received full scholarships to Berklee school of music in Boston, North Texas State University and Miami and chose to attend North Texas. After only one semester I became home sick because I wanted to continue to study with Robbie Ameen in New York who was my teacher at the time and whose instruction was so meaningful to me at that point in my life. "Why should I be anywhere else than New York if I wanted to learn how to be a good musician." I later studied with Kenwood Dennard whose instruction was priceless. I studies with many great New York musicians... I took piano lessons with Mark Hymes and studied Vibraphone with Joe Cavallaro. Some of my teachers were Kenwood Dennard, Joe Ascione, Joel Rosenblatt, John Rielly, Kim Plainfield, Chris Parker, Jim Chapin, My Dad of course, Frank Bellucci was very helpful when I saw having pain in my right hand. There were many others. I made a living playing various musical original and cover gigs and club-dates (Weddings) and in 1996 I joined Blood, Sweat and Tears and toured all over the U.S. and Canada. We also played in South America and Curacou which is a Island just North of Brazil. That was a great experience for me especially where it can to learning how to deal with different personalities. I always worked, both playing club-dates and playing music that I enjoyed. A little bit of teaching and a little bit of producing other peoples music. I own and run a recording studio which I love to be in as much as possible. Every time through the years that I had the opportunity to record in a studio, It would always be so evident to me just what a great learning tool it was to be able to hear myself on tape on a regular basis. So, over the last eight years I have spent lots of time in my studio. There's nothing I love more. I've been on tour with The Healers, a hard hitting blues band from New York and for the last three years, I've had the opportunity to play in such countries as Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, Poland, Holland, The Czech Republic, Sweden, Luxembourg and Belgium. Since 2006, I've been producing music for the Oprah Winfrey Show. You can often hear my drumming on her show during the "bumper Music," section in between commercial breaks or when a guest walks on the stage. I've also played on many film scores including The Christopher Walkin's movie, 5 dollars a day. For the last 2 years I have been on a European tour with The Healers, A hard hitting blues band from New York.Recently Added
