As of January 2010, I'm working at my alma mater - The Honors College at the University of Houston - as their director of communications. I'm working on their website, doing PR and marketing for the college and its many events, helping out with event and facilities management, and writing and editing for various pieces and publications. In my varied career, I worked in the computer industry, teaching and writing, from1993 to 2006. While I was in grad school at Rice University, I took a break from the business world and gave back to my local community by teaching high school at a public charter school that serves traditionally under-served students from 2006-2008. I also did a gig recently teaching at Houston Community College - great fun. Immediately prior to that, I had been doing some contract marketing writing, technical authoring, and continuing to support the Lotus user community as program director and site editor for LotusUserGroup.org. I ran e-Pro Magazine for a long time, although not long enough, wrote three books, and have been working on technical writing, editing, and educating for the majority of my time since college.
