I have completed internships with the State Attorney's Office working with state prosecutors, United States Attorney's Office working with federal prosecutors, and an United States District Court Judge for the Middle District of Florida in the Tampa Division. I began my career as an assistant public defender in Florida. I have represented hundreds of individuals in misdemeanor, felony and juvenile cases. After working for two years at the public defender's office, I entered private practice in 2001 where I continued to focus on criminal defense. In 2008, I founded the Sammis Law Firm with my husband of 12 years, Jason Sammis. He also focuses exclusively on criminal defense. We live in South Tampa with our two great kids and an ill-behaved chocolate lab.Other InterestsWhen I'm not in the courtroom, I enjoy blogging, writing articles and networking with other attorneys who are fighting similar battles in the criminal justice system. I love to travel with the kids and stay at the beach.Being an active member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL) and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) allows me to stay current on recent changes in the law that impact criminal defense.
