A close friend once told me, "One thing I can say about you though, is that you know what you want and you GO for it." I live this in every aspect of my life. I have always wanted to be a writer. My fifth grade teacher told me, "whatever you do, you must write." Since then, I've followed the path of a writer. Majoring in Journalism Media Studies was my dream come true. I joined the Campus Press (now the CU Independent) as a reporter and quickly moved up the ranks. Throughout my tenure at the paper, we went through a rebranding, launched the digital publication and a social media campaign to gain readership. This is where my love for social media developed. I took a risk and moved to San Francisco to join Context Optional, a social marketing company, it the very early stages of its existence. Start-up life was fast-paced and there isn't a hat rack tall enough to hold different hats worn. I had a hand in tasks from sales to website designdevelopment to speaking to developing social media strategies for Fortune brands. I joined the team as the first Community Manager - a term that was still being defined in the social media industry let alone at Context Optional. I found my niche in content and communication strategy and began developing and defining what community engagement means for brands. I was very fortunate to be thrown into various challenges at Context Optional, to learn from some incredible leaders, and work with some of the biggest brands (Expedia, Safeway, Hyatt, and more). In May of , Context Optional was acquired by Efficient Frontier, and in December of the same year, we were acquired by Adobe. During my three and a half years with COEFAdobe, I have grown my Community Engagement team globally. Each member is hand-picked for specialization and I could not be more excited as a people manager. We continue to work with brands to create their social personas and nurture their Facebook and Twitter communities.
