Kody Zenger lives that cause us to stop, and if there is one we usually find it annoying. Such as, a red light, or someone taking along time to figure out what to order at the coffee shop, whatever it is we usually get annoyed with slowing down, much less stopping completely. That's one reason I love photography because we stop. It's a frozen moment in time that is magical and gone, but somehow still so alive. It's weird but fascinating. I want people when they see my images to stop,and think about the person or the place and go there in their mind. I want people to actually care about the person in the image, wonder what they're like and if maybe they could help them in some way. I think a real photograph,not a picture but a photograph, can have so much power that it can take our mind off of ourselves and give us compassion for others. That's when people move, that's when people act and do weird things like give away their car or run really far so people can have clean water in Africa... That's weird It's weird that people give up their weekend to go to their local soup kitchen and give food to those that need a hand up or use their hard earned money to rebuild houses for tornado effected families... It's not normal, it's weird, but in a way that is so much better than normal. Photography inspires people do weird stuff and it changes lives. I love it.
