I would like to make a difference in a young person's life, and already love what I'm doing in my new career as a science enrichment instructor. I believe that my years of experience in a well-known science field (broadcast meteorology), history of mentoring students, participation in the Reach for the Stars Program, and commitment to inspire the next generation (especially girls and minorities) towards considering science as a future career will make me successful in a teaching-related career. A 25-year career as a meteorologist at The Weather Channel included positions of forecaster, Meteorology Manager (in charge of hiring, overseeing a multi-million-dollar budget, personnel development), and Director of Weather Data & Strategy (served as liaison to national weather industry organizations, mentored students/interns, spearheaded diversity initiatives).
