Jon is a bandleader/bassist/composer/lyricist/producer with 30 years in the business. Jon's most recent project is the band "Giant Cicada," an acoustic left-of-center alternative ensemble playing rock with bluegrass instrumentation and cajon drum. Jon produced 27 master recordings of his original songs in 2007 for jbQ Media LLC, a partnership with his brother Bill Burr, and is also the sole proprietor of jbQ, a music production studio. Jon has recorded and performed with an extensive roster of names, including Tony Bennett, Stephane Grappelli, Mark O'Connor's Hot Swing Trio, Eartha Kitt, Rita Moreno, Chet Baker, Stan Getz, and many others. Jon Burr's Music For Events has been active, providing music for functions, parties, conventions, weddings and other special occasions. Jon has written several books, including "The Untold Secret to Melodic Bass," "The Improvising Chef: Making Healthy Food Tasty," and "Letting Go: Practical Meditation for Everyday People." jbQ does music production, video editing and package design for music releases, and produces recordings and demos of songs and musicians, serving at every step of the way, from transcription to notation to arranging to midi to ProTools recording to editing, mixing, mastering and replication.
