jerral wayne jones
At the University of Arkansas Jones was an offensive lineman for the 1964 season, where the Razorbacks became the NCAA National Champions. After college he entered business, becoming wealthy via the oil and gas industry. Jones declined an offer to buy the San Diego Chargers in 1967 for $5.8 million, but eventually purchased the Dallas Cowboys in 1989 from H.R. "Bum" Bright for $140 million. He fired longtime coach Tom Landry and replaced him with his former Razorback teammate Jimmy Johnson.
