Placed in a butter rose-draped bassinet, Jenny, upon birth, was wheeled into the center of her British grandparents’ sun-drenched secret garden in Redondo Beach. There, she was nurtured by the beauty of Mother Nature to heal and inspire. A few miles away, in her mum’s seaside cottage, Jenny was again embraced by a flower oasis where her passion and the family “flower gene†led her to a flower shop down the street where she secured a job at the age of 16. A year after high school, Jenny launched Magical Blooms, first out of her garage, then from a Hermosa Beach storefront. With the help of family, friends and loyal customers, Jenny’s business blossomed and she moved to her current Redondo Beach location on Pacific Coast Highway where her clients range from anxious brides and event planners to celebrity and corporate patrons. Her work has been featured on HGTV and numerous television shows, magazines and newspapers. Like a flower responding to seasonal changes, Magical Blooms has likewise had to adjust to the ebb and flow of the economic climate by offering floral design classes to customers who wish to create their own masterpieces. After more than 14 years in the flower business, the consistent thread in Magical Bloom’s storyline is its creator: Jenny Barker. Like a clematis vine—vibrant, complex, creative, fragrant and soulful—Jenny is a metaphor, a reminder, to look, listen, celebrate, and cherish the beauty and inspiration of each moment.
