I am a digital accessibility professional who spent over twelve years helping Canadian banks realize their goal of making web, Windows Desktop, and mobiletablet (iPhone, iPad) applications accessible and usable to persons with different disabilities. Today at LinkedIn, I am helping define and lead their digital accessibility efforts. As Co-Director of the Adaptech Research Network, I have been researching, publishing and speaking on the accessibility of information and communication technology by postsecondary students with disabilities since . I am always seeking new and innovative ways to engage and connect with members of the developer, design, usability, research, and related high-tech communities on all aspects of digital accessibility. I actively champion the barcampunconference event format as a means of promoting digital accessibility awareness. I have helped organize such events in Seattle, Boston and Washington D.C. led Accessibility Camp Toronto in and and co-led the first Accessibility Camp Los Angeles in . In addition, I co-founded the annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day event on May , , and I co-founded the Toronto Accessibility and Inclusive Design Meetup Group in the same year. For these professional, research, and community contributions, I have been recognized by Microsoft as a Microsoft Accessibility Technology For Everyone Champion, honoured by RBC and the Government of Canada with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in , and nominated for a American Foundation for the Blind Access Award.
