Samuel Butler once said that “life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.” Jenni S. Lewis has tried to learn each note to complete the piece but she has made the crowd screech a couple times along the way. Graduating from Cass Technical High School with a concentration in communications, the first screech came when her mother found out she wasn’t going to college to become a doctor; she wanted to be a journalist. Providing freelance public relations for small startups in Mid-Michigan, and interning at various public relations firms in college, she absorbed all of the technical abilities and relationships needed to begin her own event management and marketing company. She worked in public affairs with Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications; was introduced to the health care industry and event management with John Bailey & Associates; and strengthened her management skills as the Director of Public Relations and Advertising of the Residence Halls Association at Michigan State University. In true Detroiter fashion, she got immersed in the automotive industry providing support for the PR Desk of the North American International Auto Show 2007-2009 and working on philanthropy and the launch of the Chevrolet Traverse on the Chevy Communications team at General Motors. She influenced the social media launch with mommy bloggers across the country when budget cuts came. Through this partnership with such a non-traditional group, she involved traditional media placement and events in key cities such as San Francisco and Chicago to ensure the successful launch of the Chevrolet Traverse. The second screech came when she said she wanted to start her own company. Now it was on for higher and longer notes. She launched 360 Event Management, a full-service event management, public relations and marketing company obtaining clients including the UAW, COMTO Detroit, and MGM Grand Detroit...
