Hilary A. Schneider

Bio: Hilary Schneider has been senior vice president, Knight Ridder, since January 2005. She is jointly responsible for all Knight Ridder newspaper operations and for technology and directly oversees newspapers in San Jose, Miami, Detroit, Akron, Lexington and Contra Costa. She serves on the boards of directors for CareerBuilder, Classified Ventures (cars.com and apartments.com), CrossMedia Services (ShopLocal), Tribe (a social networking company) and Topix.net (an online content aggregation and distribution service). She also has oversight of Knight Ridder Digital (KRD) and its partnerships. Prior to being named senior vice president, she held the position of vice president/Knight Ridder and president and CEO of KRD from 2002 to 2004. Prior to joining Knight Ridder, Ms. Schneider was president and chief executive officer at Red Herring Communications, Inc., from 2002-2004, with responsibility for Red Herring Magazine, their Web site and events. From 1999 to 2000, she served as president and CEO of Times Mirror Interactive, the online media division of Times Mirror Corporation. In this position, Ms. Schneider managed the operations of 34 Web sites including the online versions of 11 newspapers and 17 magazines, including The Los Angeles Times, Newsday, The Baltimore Sun, Popular Science, Golf and Skiing.
