I am scientist with a broad background in biochemistry and molecular biology. Since I switched to the biotechnological industry, I have been working on different aspects of assay development. I am currently managing a group of scientists in the development of sensors of food quality. When I was at USG, I contributed to the development of the sample preparation methodology for a single diagnostic test that could be applied to the detection of a wide range of infectious organisms, using their proprietary technology for genome mapping. The focus of my years in academic research has been on proteomics, the study of signal transduction alterations associated with disease, and biomarkers, enzymology, enzyme kinetics and molecular biology. I particularly enjoyed my time as postdoc at MIT, when I used a systems biology approach to characterize the signaling networks in breast cancer cells. Since then, I became passionate about the concept of personalized medicine. My previous postdoctoral experience had been focused in understanding regulation of enzymes and structure-activity relationship in enzymatic proteins.
