As Vice President, Business Legal Affairs, at the biggest producer of motion pictures and television shows in the world, I specialize in the creation, acquisition, exploitation, and protection of intellectual property, with a focus on retail brand licensing, merchandising, branded entertainment and promotions, eCommerce, and online social-media. This includes profitably building brands and navigating deals and partnerships that grow both the eCommerce business across the United States, and the consumer products business in emerging Asian markets such as China, India, Vietnam, and Korea. A native of Shanghai, I have lived and worked in or with Asia and Japan for over years. I came to Warner Bros. Studios in from Panasonic, where I was part of the original founding team that took Blu-ray Disc from upstart entertainment technology to global commercial launch. During my tenure with Panasonic, I drove the legal, licensing and partnership strategy that established Blu-ray Disc as the leading high definition optical storage media, for which my employer won an Emmy. Prior to Blu-ray, I also served in business and legal affairs roles at both global Fortune companies and technology start-up premium brands (PSINet, Seiko Epson, FedEx). My first job out of law school was a judicial clerkship for a life tenure federal judge. In addition to my legal experience, I completed the Entertainment Media Executive Education Program at UCLA Anderson School of Management and serve in high-level management leadership positions in the community, including board level direction of The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), the world's largest community of lawyers who practice in legal departments, and UCLA Law Alumni Association. My outside interests include public speaking. I have been invited to speak at UCLA Law School, USC Law School, UCLA Business School, USC Annenberg School for Communication Journalism, and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA).
