In spring 2009 the self-titled album "Cheryl Catherine Smith" was released and two of the album's singles "All Dark Places" and "Why Does She Hate You?" have since received commercial radio airplay all across the USA. In the same year, several music videos were made in support of her album as well. These included music videos for her singles: "Smash Up My Telephone" and "All Dark Places" which were created and directed by renowned Canadian Filmmaker Marcus Rogers of Cinestir Productions http://www.imvf.com/cinestir (D.O.A., Devin Townsend, and Art Bergman.) "Smash Up My Telephone" won the Ladies First IMVF Award 2009 and traveled throughout Europe and North America with the festival. The music video for her controversial spoken word song "Pardon Me" was created by musician/song writer, Kevin Stuart Swain. A trained visual artist, Cheryl painted many small sized original acrylic pictures, each one inspired by a song off of the "Cheryl Catherine Smith" album. These paintings are still being sold along with her CD in several galleries throughout the greater Vancouver area and can also be found in many radio stations across the USA.In the summer of 2010, Cheryl joined forces with musician Ani Kyd http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... and Ani's production company Sugar Skull Films to create a video for her newest (yet to be released) solo single "Sucker #93". This music video is in post production. Solo artist Ash Riot and Cheryl Catherine Smith began to write together after meeting in May 2010 and formed the band "Hollow-Gram" together with Kevin Stuart Swain. They have since started to record their band's debut album "World of Illusion" in January 2011. This album is slated for release in the fall of 2011. Cheryl and Ash have a biweekly live radio show called "The Hollow Gram Show" featured on bbsradio on Sundays at 7 pm PST. http://www.bbsradio.com/hol... "Cheryl Catherine Smith" ALBUM REVIEWS:"....a chameleon-like versatility." ~ Tom Harrison (The Vancouver Province)"One word. GREAT!! I love the songs, the vocals, the mix, the production. They are all terrific." ~ Candice James (Krazy Cat Records)"Your collective experience shows here...well thought out lyrics and arrangement ideas...the blend, interplay between the vocalist and the band, is a big part of the appeal""The vocals of Cheryl are strong and convey passion - the song structure is tight. The feel is close to Classic Rock or Retro 80's a la Pat Benatar""I'm very impressed with your undeniably strong voice""This music is very "big" in sound and very dramatic in melody and story. This voice has the commanding presence of Bette Midler and having dramatic vocal delivery and tone. The wording at times is very poetic and dramatic - cool and vivid in imagery. The tracks are huge in production with strong musicianship""High quality work - great rock, gutsy and a really great vocal... very good productions, songs and performances""Good vocal attitude, creative song writing, solid arrangements and feel for Rock/Pop production; innovative imagery along with some prosaic rhymes""This does share some of Sarah Brightman's sense of theatricality. Good vocal attitude, expressive delivery, dramatic phrasing, descriptive imagery, inventive language - very good performances" "The references in the lyrics are obviously from a cultured, educated mind. Very cool. Your experience in music is evident in the structure and flow of these songs""You have lots of good experience as a performer, writer and it shows - the dynamics. Expression in your vocals is a plus on all of these songs"~ TAXI ( Los Angeles, Taxi.com ),Share your videos with friends, family, and the world read more ...
