Over my past ten years in graphic design, I've tried to learn from the best, then take those lessons and see how far a project can be pushed. A paint scheme for Evan Williams Bourbon where the moon roof acts like a bottle of bourbon emptying out and filling back up when it opens and closes. A direct mail piece that lets people experience how the apps will look and work on their own phone. Or showing a billion-dollar company designs that they themselves get so excited about, they actually cheer right there during the presentation. Find the soul of the project. It's never there on the surface, it's always down deep. So you've got to dig and sweat and labor. And it's work. And it takes up a lot of time. And it's frustrating. And at times it's a brain drain. But when you find it, when you give people something they can be excited about. Proud of. Want to show their friends and family, there's just nothing else like it. At least that's how it is for me. Specialties Push the idea 3 inches further than it's "supposed" to be pushed. Work to dig deep to find the "Wow!" or the "Ahah!" in an idea. From paint schemes, to direct mail pieces, to working to break the plane of the everyday. Push it. Bend it. Twist it. Break it until you can step back and say, "Wow...now that's cool." That's my specialty. It's what I do.
