My skills range from designing training manuals, building databases, and creating websites to provide faster more efficient support to the franchise network. I am a strong communicator who facilitates communication amongst a team scattered across the globe and within different departments in the organization. In my role as a Professor of English, I teach students how to become better communicators. As I tell them on a daily basis, we all have wonderful ideas, ideas that can change the world. However, since no one is psychic, the only way anyone will ever discover your great ideas is if you can communicate these ideas to an audience. As the world becomes increasingly inter-connected, clear and persuasive writing becomes more important than ever. I've taught all areas of writing, from development education to advanced rhetoric, as well as courses in my literary specialty, American literature in both online and traditional classroom environments. My students must use Blackboard for all course interaction. My classes are as paperless as possible, as students turn in their essays via Blackboard, I download, grade, and re-upload the graded paper back to them. Not only does this increase efficiency, it also teaches students valuable computer skills that will prepare them for their future careers. Past projects involve: streamlining franchise support by creating resource websites for franchisees, trainers, and sales staff that are both visually appealing and easy to navigate; JSP webforms collect data that is fed into SQL databases; and designing training manuals and DVDs. I am researching a PhD dissertation on the only American archetype: the super-hero. My research will focus on the evolving character of the super-hero to reflect American cultural values.
