Bella Martin

Female

After graduating with a Master of Design from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004, Bella worked as a Sr. Information Architect at SiegelGale in NYC. From 2006-09, Bella served as an Internet Product Design Manager—writing product requirements documents (PRDs), overseeing the information architecture and content strategy, and guiding the User Experience—for Prospera.com, an online service for HR professionals. She recently finished co-authoring "Universal Methods of Design" for Rockport Publishers (Spring 2012), and is currently a User Experience Design consultant at Delta Airlines. PAST WORK: Bella developed her first website in 1996, before any WYSIWYG editors existed and the "new" browsers were Internet Explorer 2.0 and Netscape Navigator 3.0. Her first site—a database-driven, interactive resource for Shakespearean literature—was built while completing her B.A. in English Literature from Duquesne University. She was thrilled to find a platform that let her leverage technology to create content-rich, relevant user experiences. When she joined Blattner Brunner's interactive team in 1998, she quickly became the team's technical cornerstone, managing web and database servers, contract programmers, and writing technical requirement specs. During that time, the group was recognized two years in a row as one of the Top 100 Interactive Agencies in the country. She spent her days resolving competing technical limitations, user needs, and the clients' business vision...and loved every minute of it. In 2002, Bella was one of 8 designers accepted into Carnegie Mellon University's CPID Master of Design program. At CMU, she had the unparalleled experiences of presenting the "Sharing Personal Media" Project at the first Microsoft Design Expo, working on the USPS Domestic Mail Manual Transformation Project, and as a User-Experience intern at Yahoo's Hotjobs. read more ...
