Andrew Lovett-Barron

Male, 35 years old

I'm an interaction designer, developer, and artist in the IDEO Digital Shop, with a focus on interactive installations and experimental screen-based experiences. My current research focus is on The Decay Of Digital Things, an exploration into the life, death, and possible rebirth of physicaldigital entities. httpdecay.io I came to IDEO from owning a small design consultancy in Toronto called Relay Studio, which specialized in interaction design at human scale. Previous to that, I worked at Normative Design and TAXI as a designer and researcher on projects ranging from hospital support systems, to dating sites, to advertising campaigns. I'm fascinated by issues of identity and intention, and the role of design objects in affecting social and organizational change, and use my art practice to critically explore these topics. I've been commissioned for several high-traffic public art pieces, have co-founded a DIY music series called Handmade Music Toronto, and orients much of my work around community, emerging technologies, and physical space. I've also spoken at numerous events like TEDxOCADU, SEGD, Pechakucha, and elsewhere on topics like interaction design, the networked city, and computer vision. read more ...
