Amy Winehouse Amy Winehouse was born in London, and was brought up on jazz music. After a brief spell at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marylebone, she left and started to attend the Brit School in Surrey, UK. Amy Winehouse's debut album, Frank, was released in 2003. Amy Winehouse has earned six 2008 Grammy Awards nominations including "Album of the Year" and "Record of the Year" for "Rehab" (6 December 2007). # Although she was finally granted an entry visa in the United States to perform at the 2008 Grammy Awards, she remained in London and sang two songs via satellite.
