I am a qualified architect and director of my own architecture and design practice, which I set up in 2001. Throughout this time, I combined my work in my practice with teaching and research at various schools of architecture in the UK and Austria. This academic activity is ongoing and has included teaching of design on both a highly conceptual and highly technical level, supervision of essays and dissertations, as well as the writing, setting up and managing of courses and programmes. It has also produced academic publications on structures, aspects of digital fabrication, and the relationship of the humanities and design, in the form of conference papers, articles, exhibitions and book chapters. The combination of an academic (managerial, research and teaching) career with my practice has produced an exceptionally varied, cross-disciplinary and collaborative portfolio of both built and speculative buildings and building projects, concepts, events, public art, products, furniture and graphics. The practice deals with direct commissions, as well as consultancy work for often larger projects or projects where its particular strenghts can be utilised. This has resulted in recurring collaborations with major UK practices and agencies, on projects of the highest international profile. Particularly close relationships exist in the following fields: • Events and exhibition agencies • Architectural and urban design practices • Manufacturers and fabricators of lighting and furniture • Furniture and object designers and producers The practice is looking to formalise its diverse character and is currently developing and shaping distinct identities for its architectural and product development activities. In addition, it maintains its wide ranging consultancy involvement.
