My life is devoted to improving the amount of well-being in the world, this includes adding to our knowledge base and using the science to hep people thrive in life and business. I regularly give keynotes and workshops to business executives, organizations, schools, parents, retirees, scholars, and health professionals on these topics and others. I received the 2010 Distinguished Faculty Member of the Year at George Mason University for teaching and mentoring. Since receiving my Ph.D. in 2004 in clinical psychology, I have published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals. As a major figure in positive psychology, I authored Curious? Discover the Missing Ingredient to a Fulfilling Life (Harper Collins) to promote the science of well-being for a general audience, and Designing Positive Psychology (Oxford University Press) to provide cutting edge theory and research on how to achieve a well-lived life. To date, my work has focused on how to foster and sustain happiness and meaning in life, strength use and development, stress and anxiety, mindfulness, gratitude, social relationships, and self-regulation. What is unique about me is that I am a psychologist, professor, well-being researcher, author, blogger, and public speaker. This is a stark contrast to consultants who don't have experience conducting science or program evaluation to create the best practice possible for people and organizations. My research has been featured in the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Oprah Magazine, CNN, CBS, PBS, and National Public Radio, among others.
