Marc Fantich was born into a family of the Midwest. In Detroit, Michigan at the beginning of the sixties the Fantich family was involved in all the city had to offer. Marc Fantich spent his early years cheering for the Detroit Tigers and loving cars. Marc Fantich was not the least bit interested in leaving Motor City.A decade later, as he was approaching his tenth birthday, Marc Fantich was confronted with a grown up thought; moving. The year was 1970 and Marc Fantich's parents had decided to move the family from the big, exciting city of Detroit to the tiny southern town of McAllen, Texas. Marc Fantich knew nothing about Texas. With the perception of a child, Marc Fantich expected Cowboys and Indians, tumbleweeds and dust blowing everywhere. It turns out in retrospect that Marc Fantich was presented with a choice that would define a current passion that will live with him forever. Two wheeled vehicles when you are 10 years old represent more than transportation. The mini-bike purchased after his relocation to Texas represented speed, freedom and a step into manhood. His freedom came first in the form of a Yamaha JT-60 Mini Enduro that was purchased by his parents. Unlike kids that simply had a mini bike, Marc Fantich had a real motorcycle; and it was a Yamaha, not from Sears! From that point on, Marc Fantich spent much of his youth riding his motorcycle. As Marc Fantich turned 16, another event came before him, the opportunity to learn motocross-riding skills from a veteran rider much older than him. His new goal was simple; Marc Fantich would go fast and win trophies. The summer of 1971 presented Marc Fantich with his first true opportunity to race and he was ready, or so he thought. Not only did Marc Fantich finish in last place out of the 15 other young boys, but also everyone else lapped him at least one time. While he gave it his best shot, he simply was not good enough or fast enough and that memory stays with him. Forty years later, Marc Fantich has competed in Motocross, Enduro, Flat-track and Hare Scrambles. Trophies fill his "ego room" but he never became one of the great ones. The discipline learned from hard work, competing and losing has molded Marc Fantich into a solid businessman. Now as the head of Fantich Media Group, Marc Fantich applies those same skills to his biggest race yet; life.
