After departing the Navy he worked in a network planning role for Sears Technology Services and senior sales roles at British Telecom North America and MCI in Chicago, IL and Cleveland, OH. In 1998 he joined Foresight Technology Group, one of IBM's largest business partners, where he focused on development and execution of the newly formed Network Services group. In 2000 he joined Broadwing Communications following Cincinnati Bell's acquisition of IXC and re-branding to Broadwing. There Bret joined a small start up team to launch the National Accounts organization where he was responsible for sales management in the Great Lakes Region until 2003 when he left to start WinHoldings LLC and GRN Tampa.
