His late uncle, Victor Allegretti, was a leading supporter of causes such as the American Legion, the Kiwanis, and dozens of Staten Island and Brooklyn based organizations. His late father, Alfred Allegretti, was a hard working entrepreneur who taught Michael that the best way to succeed in business was to provide personal customer service. This lesson is at the core of why Michael believes that speaking directly to voters is so critical. His mother Linda Allegretti, a retired New York City public school teacher, is a community leader who has worked tirelessly to renew a ribbon of decaying parkland along Shore Road, while his brother Vinny and his cousin Fran are active members of the Saint Anselms Youth Activities program. So many of his family from his nieces and nephews to his many cousins have lived within our community for decades. Ever active in the community that has shaped his life, Michael has served on the Development Committee of the Federation of Italian-American Organizations, the Advisory Board of the Guild for Exceptional Children, and the sustainability committee of his high school, Poly Prep. He also spent a year teaching non-violent offenders who were slated to be paroled, how to read, write and better interact in their communities. Michael holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Harvard Universitys Kennedy School of Government and a BA in History from Boston College.
